Question
This week let's investigate the human microbiome. https:/www.sciencedaily com/releases/2017/09/170920131656 htm Millions of new genes in human microbiome Study triples the amount of data on the human microbiome Date September 20, 2017 Source University of Maryjand School of Medicine Summary A new study of the human microbiome has uncovered millions of previously unknown genes from microbial communities in the human gut, skin, mouth, and vaginal microbiome, atowing for new insights into the role these microbes play in human health and disease l find it simply amazing to realze that we are simply part of a community of organisms. What is lving on us and in us is so complex that a whole science has developed to reading up on this topic. I do e what these microbal communities are and how they make us healthy or comiute to disease. Hope you enjoy know how you think this information will help us as a society and as indviduals to improve the health of ourselves, our patients and our worldExplanation / Answer
Human microbiome is defined as collection of microbe - bacteria, virus, and single cell eukaryotes that inhabits human body. Although bacteria are often associated with infections, the bacteria that colonize the surface and inside our bodies are essential for life. We are dependent on these bacteria to help digest our food, produce certain vitamin, regulate our immune system, and keep us healthy by protecting us against disease causing bacteria.
The community of the microbe is an individual may influence the susceptibility to certain infectious disease, as well as contribute to disease such as obesity and diabetes. It may also contribute to the development of some chronic illness of the gastrointestinal system such as crohn's disease and irritable bowl syndrome. Some of the microbe can determine how one respond to a particular drug treatment. The microbe of mother may even affect the health of her children.
Noval understanding of diversity of microbe that make up human microbe could lead to novel therapies for example, it is possible to treat bacterial infection caused by bad bacterial species by prmoting the growth of good bacteria. Microbial transplant are already being used to combat certain illnesssuch as clostrodium difficile infection, to establish more healthful population.
Information of microbiome help society to prevent spread of particular infections and make a world better place for living. Verious therapies, custamized drug treatment help to improve health of individual due to understanding of human microbiome.
