Explanation / Answer

a) skater b has won the race as he has travelled 500 miles in less time

b) avearge speed of skater A for first 10 s is

total distance travelled during 1st 10 seconds / total time

= 200/10 = 20 m/s

avearge speed of skater B is

100/10 = 10 m/s

c) avearge speed of skater A for last 15 seconds

= 100/15 = 7 m/ s

avearage speed of skater B for last 15 seconds

= ( 500 - 200 ) / 15 = 300 / 15 = 20 m/s
