Question
I have an assignment due on Fri. and my Professor isn't scheduling any more office hours for the week. I am confused with how to find the % growth rate- the other question too. Am I supposed to graph it and find y=mx+b? Yeah. Not too sure how to tackle it. I am given numbers ranging from 11540 to 14261 over a span of ten years. (From 1990-2010.)
a) What is the percent growth rate? b) If that growth rate is sustained for the next 20 years, what will Oregon's power requirements be in the year 2030?
Explanation / Answer
a) percent growth rate = (final value - initial value)/ time taken
= (14261-11540)/10
=272.1 * per year ,where * represent what these number represent.
b) If that growth rate is sustained for the next 20 years, what will Oregon's power requirements be in the year 2030
= 14261 + 271.1*20 = 19683
