Question
Hi
When I registered for this site, I did so because it said that I would find all the solutions to Discrete Mathematics and its Applications on this site. Sadly, this is not the case. Not all of the questions are done, and I have found multiple mistakes in various answers. I am extremely frustrated to say the least. I have attached a picture of one question that I need the answer to as soon as possible, and I'd appreciate it if it can get done. Thank you so much!
Question: Suppose that a store offers gift certificates in denominations of 25 dollars and 40 dollars. Determine the possible total amounts you can form using these gift certificates. Prove your answer using strong induction.Explanation / Answer
Let the number of gift certificates with denomination of 25 dollars be x
Let the number of gift certificates with denomination of 40 dollars be x
Total Amount = 25x + 40y. where the value of x and y can be any natural number greater than or equal to zero
The given thing will be true for 25,40,50,75,80
25 = 25 * 1, 40 = 40 * 1
It will be true for any number that satisfies the given equation
