Explanation / Answer

9. Vredenburg’s experiment was done to show the effect of introduction of non-native fish species in three lakes of Seirra Naveda on the mountain yellow-legged frog (RanaMuscosa)which was native to the lake. In the experiment, it was seen that removing the trout fishes from the lake indeed led to the increase in the population of tadpoles as well as the frog. It was seen that the non-native trouts were actually acting like predators for the tadpoles hence, there population was going down and so do of the frog.

Hence, the correct option is d) increase in both adult frog and tadpole population sizes.
