Question

Lets say the machine time of a part is 3 min and 200 units are to be made during 8 hours shift. Of the avalible for production time, the machine will be operational 90% of the time, and parts are produced at 5% of scrap rate. How many machines are required?

So I know the formula is F=(SQ)/(HER)

Where F= number of machines required, S= standartd time per unit prodused, Q = number of units to be produced, H = amount of time avalible per machine. E = efficency of performance, R=reliablitiy

Explanation / Answer

S= 3min

Q = 200

H = 8hr = 480 min

E= 90 %

R=100-5= 95%

No. of machine required , F = 3*200/(480*.9*.95)

                                                                = 1.46
