The text gives three initial principles of sustainability derived from observing how nature works—reliance of solar energy; biodiversity; chemical or nutrient cycling. A fourth principle—limits on population size, which I expand to include limits, as in limits on energy transfers-- is implied in the text, too. Ecosystems in the natural world are sustainable because they operate using these four principles. How well are we using these same principles to keep our civilization going? Is our society's present course sustainable? Explain.

The term Sustainability can be defined as process which utilises natural resources and having a relationship with the technological advancement of the human beings involving using solar energy,biodiversity and nutrient cycling.For ages human beings are depended on these natural sources for their living and sustaining human population but as of now as far the human ecosystem is concerned there is huge exploitation of these natural resources at present due to expansion of world population putting huge pressure on consumption of natural resouces like oil,minerals,gas etc.The world's greenhouse effect has increased,the global temperatures are rising,the world's forest cover is also depriving at an alarming rate,marine life is also affected by human consumption pattern,Therefore in current situation we can not sustain as a species if we continue the same path we are continuing for last few decades and our present course is not sustainable for our future generations unless we stops our overdependence on natural resources and starting to sustain life on renewable energy sources like solar energy,windmillls etc. and starting more plantations and also there should be mechanism for control of human beings population.Therefore there should be a roadmap and agreements of all countries of the world for limited use of natural resources and limiting population for sustainability of resources in the future.
