Question

Help on this would be greatly appreciated, preferrably from someone who knows their stuff. You don't have to run through the equation 7 times but just once so I can see what to do. I don't understand how I would run through the equation to obtain the new values. Thanks !

k = 25 md A = 450 ft2 P1 = 1000 psia P2 = 1500 psia mu = 4 cp L = 65 ft Bo = 1.2 RB/STB Given the above data, determine the value for each variable (k, A. P1. P2, mu, L, Bo) to increase production by a factor of 4 (Q new = 4*Q). That means running through the equation 7 times to get 7 different values. Explain if the required values are achievable or not.

Explanation / Answer

for k,

k_new = 4*k keeping other variables constant.

then Q_new = 4*Q

i.e. k_new = 100md

A_new = 450

P1_new = 1000

P2_new = 1500

mu = 4

L = 65

B0 = 1.2

------------------------------

same goes for A.

For mu0,B0 and L

take mu0_new = mu0/4 keeping other variables constant

repeat this for B0 and L .

For P1, we cannot change P1 to a value which makes Q_new=4*Q

however, for P2, if i change it to P2_new = 3000 psi

then Q_new = 4*Q
