please help

Water flows through the pipeline system shown at the rate of 2.5 m3/min. Obtain the power consumed by the pump, neglecting any losses. Define symbols for different quantities, solve in the symbolic fashion and then substitute values. Clearly show your control volume and box your answers. A student applies the momentum equation over the small CV shown (assuming the velocity at B to be zero) and obtains, The Bernoulli equation on a streamline, however, leads to Which of these are correct? Clearly show your analysis and justify your answer.

Explanation / Answer

the momentum equation is correct (because it conserves forces on the the given system which is by the way true)

force applied by pressure= m*change in velocity

Pb*A-Pa*A=rho*A*L*Va/t(L*V/T=V*L/t=V^2)

now using above equation

Pb*A-Pa*A=rho*A*Va^2;

so, (Pb-Pa)/rho=Va^2

Bernaulli's Equation(Energy equation of fluid flow) conserves the energy of the fluid flow at 2 different points of the flow in our case it is not corect because motor is doing work(applying force here) here which is not accounted for while applying the beraulli's equation
