Question

If the allowable shear stress for each of the 10 mm diameter steel pins at A, B, and C is t_allow= 90 MPa, and the allowable normal stress for the 13 mm diameter rod is sigma_allow= 150 MPa, determine the largest intensity w of the uniform distributed load that can be suspended from the beam.

This is the same question as in Hibbeler book (8 e, Problem 1.94) but here it is in SI unit. I tried exactly the same way as it was done for questin 1.94 and got 12.91 kN/m. But, this answer is wrong. Can you please help me with this question.

P.S.: In problem P1.94, 4ft will be replaced by 1.2 m, 3 ft will be replaced by 0.9 m and 1 ft will be replaced by 0.3 m.

Explanation / Answer

i could help you if u upload a figure indicating A,B,C and rod
