Question

Please provide a detailed explanation.

Question 1 The following questions are based on the circuit given below. Assume the unit is given in Volts, The switch in the circuit diagram is connected to node b for a long time. At time zero, the switch is disconnected from b and connected to node a. V1 = 4Vand V2 = 10V. R1 = 1000 Omega R2 = 2000 Omega and R3 = IM Omega C1 = l Mu F. What is the initial voltage across capacitor Cl before time zero? Put numerical answers in the box below without the units. Round your answers to 2-decimal places if necessary.

Explanation / Answer

at t = 0- the capacitor is considered open circuit , thus the voltage across it will be :

Vc = [R1 / (R1+R2)] * V1 (using voltage divider)

= (1000 / 3000) * 4

= 4/3 V

= 1.33 V
