Also, write a brief state- ment describing how each feature forms of the meander belt of the river. Letter C (in particular, Old River) Letter D Letter E: Letter FExplanation / Answer
Answer for Letter C (in particular old river): In diagram C, the river has slowed its pace. The river is now covering its widest area, has eroded its banks efficiently and substantial deposits have started taking place that cause the meandering river to be more pronounced (the S shape of the river are more deep since the river is depositing sediments along its tracks and meandering away where the deposition is pronounced)
Answer for Letter D: In this phase, the heavy deposition of sediments has caused the river to form a number of heavy S-shaped meanders and during flood, the river will not follow this meander but will try to flow straight ahead- cutting the meanders on its side off of its path. This will give rise to an ox-bow lake.
