Extending the life of an aluminum smelter pot. An investigation of the properties of the bricks used to line aluminum smelter pots was published in The American Ceramic Society Bulletin (Feb. 2005) Six different commercial bricks were evaluated. The life length of a smelter pot depends on the porosity of the brick lining (the less porosity, the longer life); consequently, the researchers measured the apparent porosity of each brick specimen, as well as the mean pore diameter of the brick. You fit a straight-line model relating the apparent porosity y (in percent) of the brick to mean pore diameter x (in micrometers) using the data are given in the table above.
.
A) Find a 95% confidence interval for the true slope of the line.
95% confidence interval for the true slope is ----- ± ------ ( write the answer with 4 decimals.
Reach conclusion;
Does “The confidence interval fails to conclude that the slope of the line differs from 0.” Or does “The confidence interval concludes that the slope of the line differs from 0.”?
b- Conduct a test (at a = .05) to determine if the true slope of the line differs from 0.
State the hypothesis;
Options: (Beta 0, Beta 1, Beta 2,Beta 1 and 2, Beta 0 and 1, Beta 0 and 2) (<, >,=, not equal,>=,<=) A Value(1.23 or 0.12)
Answer H0= choose from option above a.--- b.---- c.----

Ha = choose from option: a.---- b.---- c.----
State the critical region;
is the answer one tailed?
Calculated test statistics is? answer with 3 decimals (example: 0.123 or 1.234)).
Reach conclusion if H0 is rejected.
or if H0 can NOT be rejected? does “The test of hypothesis fails to conclude that the slope of the line differs from 0.”
or does “The test of hypothesis concludes that the slope of the line differs from 0?

c- According to the conclusions reached above, determine if the straight-line model is useful or not in predicting the apparent porosity percentage of a brick.
