Question

1.)  In 6 or more steps, describe the formation and geological history of where you live or just North America in general. The steps must be listed with the oldest event on bottom and the most recent event on the top, thus in chronological order like the Geologic Time Scale. For each step include: the numerical age/age range of the geological event’s occurrence, a brief description of the geological event in your own words, and the APA intext citation of your source.

Numerical Age/Age Range

Brief Description of Geological Event

APA Intext Citation of Source

(Be mindful of your time scale and time labels)

(In your own words)

Example

0 to 10,000 years ago / Holocene

The glaciers from the Canadian shield regressed southward as temperatures across North America begin to warm. As the glacial lobes retreated north, they left behind deposits of glacial till and carved out depressions that eventually became lakes.

Explanation / Answer

1) the numerical ages with the brief descriptions of the geological event at that resident region is as follow-

in this i have taken the location where i live that is southern asia. so it may be different for other locations.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2) the expansion of any land is takes place by the pressure applied by the fluids and the magma from the volcanic erruptions. in a continent which have the volcanoes have the great tendency to make new rock formations by the solidification of the hot molten magma. in the sea coastal region of the northern america, the area is subtended by the rocks and this creates a pressure force to the oceans. due to this the fluid apply the upwards force to the land mass by boyant force and thus lift the land surface to the above of water level and expand the land area. another way is the olcanic erruption which when come in contact with the water get solidify and form the rocks and land surfaces.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

3) it is the internal stability of the crystaline formations. due to this the crytalline rcok maintain a good lattice point orientaion in the intermolecular level and form a stron bond formations between the atoms placed at different lattice point due to which is get stable for billions of years and it is resistance to thermal and seismic shocks as well as heat and solar radiations. due to which it does nt changed for billions of years. this is called continental shield.
