Question

Some scholars believe that two people are responsible for the Book of Isaiah. The real prophet Isaiah wrote chapters 1-39 when the Assyrians were in power and then much later another prophet during Babylonia's ascendancy wrote chapters 40-66 continuing the first Isaiah's ministry for a new time. Still others believe three prophets were involved. Instead of one prophet during the time of Babylonia, they think there were two. The first wrote chapters 40-55 and the second wrote chapters 56-66 after Jews had returned from Babylonia and things were not going so well. Still others believe the book was written by just one prophet who was given messages for his time and a future time. How important do you think it is to know who the author of a book in the Bible is? Does it matter if another person or group of people wrote a book? Do you think the prophet would be overly concerned about having his name on the book? What makes a book worthy of being in the Bible?

Explanation / Answer

Many fundamentalists believe that Bible might contains errors and lies. Good Christian and scholars of the Bible, including Catholic and protestant scholars of United States of America believe that Bible is full of lies and therefore they do not use the term which is mentioned in the Bible, and the truth behind this is that the books of the new testament were written by such people who even told and lied about their identity therefore it is important to know who is the author of a book in the Bible. Yes it matters to know the group of people or another person wrote a book. No, prophet would not be overly concerned about having his name on the book. As Bible is the most influential book the world was ever known and it is the best gift God has given to man this makes a book worthy of being in the Bible.
