Question

1. There are 90 drill bits in a box at a machine shop. Fiftyof the drill bits are 3/8inch diameter, and 40 are 7/16 inchdiameter. if four drill bits are selected at random, what is theprobability that two drill bits of 3/8 inche diameter and two drillbits of 7/16 inche diameter will be chosen? 2. A particular job task (normally distributed) requires onaverage 6.2 weeks to complete, with a standard deviation of 1.5weeks. one of the stipulations on the contract is that the job mustnot take more than 7 weeks to complete else the person faces beingsued. You want the job, but do not want to subject yourself to amore than 30% chance of being sued. Should you take the job? Explain using a calculation 1. Explanation / Answer

I can only answer the one question, #2.
You are going to need a z table for this and the formula of

z = (x-mean)/(standard deviation)

For the second problem, you have x = 7 weeks, mean =6.2 weeksand stard deviation of 1.5 weeks. this gives you a z score or 8/15= .533 then you can figure out the answer Hope this helps~ Please Rate!
