Question
The height of a certain group of adult males are normallydistributed with a mean of 68 inches and a standard devation of 3.5inches.A) If a male is randomly selected from this group of adultmales, what is the probabilty he is over 75 inches?
For this part I used the equation z = x - / = 75-86/ 3.5 = 2 for the z score The area value of 2 is 0.9772 and I subtracted that from 1 sofor the probablity I got 0.0228.
B)What is the 23 percentile?
I did 23/100 = 0.23, then I found the area of 0.23 which was-0.74. Then I used the equation x = + z = 68 +(-0.74)(3.5) = 65.51 for the height at the 23rdpercentile.
Let me know if these answers are correct and what I did wrongif they are incorrect
