Question
According to a candy company packages of a certain candy contain 20% orange candies find the approximate probability that the random sample of 200 candies will contain 25% or more orange candies using a normal approximation what is the probability that at least 25% of 200 randomly sample candies will be orange? According to a candy company packages of a certain candy contain 20% orange candies find the approximate probability that the random sample of 200 candies will contain 25% or more orange candies using a normal approximation what is the probability that at least 25% of 200 randomly sample candies will be orange?Explanation / Answer
here population proportion p=0.20
n=200
therefore std error =(p(1-p)/n)1/2 =0.0283
hence probability that at least 25% of 200 randomly sample candies will be orange =P(X>0.25)
=1-P(X<0.25) =1-P(Z<(0.25-0.2-1/(2*200))/0.0283) ( Note:1/2n is continuity correction)
=1-P(Z<1.6794)=1-0.9535 =0.0465
