Question

1. Suppose in a data set, there are 4 predictors T1, x2, C3, and x4, and a response y. A MLR model is fitted and the Minitab outputs are shown below Predictor Constant x1 Coef SE Coef 2.1516 0.9515 -2.26 1.2662 0.2629 4.82 2.0383 0.2201-9.26 0.1905 0.2365 0.81 0.5796 0.15113.84 Analysis of Variance MS 4 196.964 49.241 DF Sourcee Regression Residual Error 20 34.796 1.740 Total 24 231. 760 (a) Write down the estimated regression equation using the Minitab outputs. (5) (b) With the graph given below, which assumption(s) can you verify? What is your conclusion regarding the assumption(s)? (5) Normal Probability Plot (response is y) 10

Explanation / Answer

(a) Here, estimated linear regression equation is ,

y=-2.1516+1.2662*x1-2.0383*x2+0.1905*x3+0.5796*x4

(b) Using normal probability plot , we verify whether errors follows normal distribution or not.

Conclusion: Since, plotted points are not approximately on straight line , normality of errors assumption is not satisfied. Furthermore, from above plot, pattern of errors are negatively skewed.
