As per the Chegg policy, we are advised to do one question at a time so i am attempting the 1st one.
1 a) P(Neither event happening)
= 1 - P(At least one of events happened)
= 1 - [P(Europe Trip) + P(Moving to New York) - P(Both)]
= 1 - [0.65 + 0.40 - 0.12]
= 1 - 0.93
= 0.07
1 b) P(Exactly one of the two events happening)
= (P(Europe Trip) - P(Both)) + (P(Moving to New York) - P(Both))
= (0.65 - 0.12) + (0.40 - 0.12)
= 0.53 + 0.28
= 0.81
