a. Construct a 95% confidence interval estimate for the population proportion of travelers who said that location was very important for choosing a hotel.
b. Construct a 95% confidence interval estimate for the population proportion of travelers who said that reputation was very important in choosing an airline
Explanation / Answer
Answers to the posted question are:
We will give the confidence interval for the population prorpotion of travelers . therefore, :
p +/- Z*sqrt(p*p'/n),
p = 1529/3950 = .387
Therefore confidence interval is .387 +/- 1.96*sqrt( .387*.613/3950) = .372 to .402
b.
p +/- Z*sqrt(p*p'/n),
p = 1213/3950 = .307
Therefore confidence interval is .307 +/- 1.96*sqrt( .307*.693/3950) = .293 to .321
