In the summer, Sun rises earlier in the morning in northern hemisphere. When the Earth moves in its orbit it position tilts. When the earth tilts to the Sun, it is summer in the northern hemisphere. It is summer solstice.The winter solstice is when the Earth's North Pole is tilted farthest from the Sun.

Duration of day in Southern Hemisphere in summer solstice is about 12 hours and eight minutes. After the June solstice, the sun follows a lower path in the Northern Hemisphere.
