Question
Find a peer reviewed article through google scholar or Ebscohost (available online by going to the UIU Homepage and selecting Library and Databases). Cite your source using APA format and indicate how statistics (preferably hypothesis testing) was used in the article. This is an opportunity for you to research something that you are passionate about.

Its about football and how statistics is used in the article
Explanation / Answer
Discussion on use of Statistics:
In the given peer reviewed article, the researchers used different types of statistical tools and techniques. Researchers want to study whether there is any increase in the winning probability or not. For this purpose, researchers use the data from past 7 NFL seasons. For this research study, the use of statistical bootstrap and simple regression model found useful. Also, researchers used the Bradley Terry model for the pairwise comparison between teams. For this research study, researcher use testing of hypothesis for checking different claims. The paired t test is used for game statistics. For the given paired t test, the researchers wants to check whether there is any statistically significant difference in the winning probabilities of the teams. Also Kolmogorov – Smirnov test is used for checking whether the cumulative distribution of the features is statistically different for the winning team and losing teams. For all hypothesis tests used in the article, the level of significance or the value of alpha is given as 0.05 or 5%. The descriptive statistics after statistical analysis does not provide a cause and effect type relationship exists between the related variables and winning probability. For the given research study, researchers used the correlograms for the correlations between the different variables under study. also, researchers find out the prediction and probability accuracy for validity of the results based on this study.
