Question
can u help me blot then thanks
Epicenter Location Continued Let's do it again with data from three reporting stations. Pay careful attention to the type of wave arriving at each time. Record your answers on your answer sheet Station A: The first S-wave arrives at 6:32:45 pm L-waves begin to arrive at 6:39:45 pm. P-waves first appear at l-waves at Station B: 6:30:45 pm, 6:51:45 pm Station C: P-waves arrive at S-waves follow at 634 27 pm, 6:45:27 pm 14 Plot the location of the epicenter by drawing a circle around each station. The radius of each circle should be equivalent to the distance from that station to the epicenter. Use the same scale as the graph above to determine your distances Show your circles and a dot to indicate the location of the epicenter. 50 45 40 35 3D 25 L-waves Swaves SAMSUNG 8 9 4Explanation / Answer
Because of unavailability of the accurate graph I cannot do this question on my paper but yes I can tell you the procedure for obtaining the epicentral distance.please go through it and solve your answer.
Atstation A, S wave arrives at 6:32:45 pm and L wave arrives at 6:39:45 p.m.
Find out the time difference between S wave and L wave which is 7 min(6:39:45 - 6:32:45).then in the travel time graph measure/ adjust 7 minute along the time direction between S and L wave then you can find a point on the L wave and s wave which represents. 7 min gap between the two wave and draw a vertical line with these two point to the distance and you can find the epicentral distance by counting from origin in km and then convert this distance to the suitable scale which helps you for drawing a circle (eg-1 cm =1000km) then draw a circle which radius is your epicantral distance from the center of the circle
In this way another two circle can be drawn for 2 station B and C.
And after drawn of 3 circle you can see 3 circle cut at a single point which is your epicentre and the distance from center to the cutting point is your epicentral distance.measure this distance and convert it to original diastance by the help of scale as you taken.
