Question
A study was conducted to determine it a person's agreeability (whether they are generally an agreeable person or not) affects their income level. It also looked at the person's gender to see if it was a factor as well. The variables are shown below: ncome: y annual income in dollars Agree: x1-agreeability level with higher scores indicating a person is more aggregable and lower scores indicating less agreeable Gender: x2- 1 if male, O if female Use the following information to answer the multiple regression questions. Printout A: Pairwise Correlations: Income Agree Agree 0.2785 1.0000 Gender 0.8327 -0.0478 Printout B: Best Subset Regression Models for Income Forced Independent Variables: (A)Agree (B)Gender (Cx1x2 Unforced Independent Variables: (D)x1sq (E)x1sqx2 Adjusted AICC . From the results on printout B above lead us to conclude that there is sufficient evidence of curvature relating income to agreement score.
Because of
Test of hypothesis for the model is,
H0: The model is insignificant.
against,
H1: The model is significant.
Test Statistics:
F-test is useful to check goodness of fit of the model.
the p-values for each model given in model.
# Decision Rule:
If the p-value is greater than the level of significance(0.05) then we accept the null hypothesis otherwise reject the null hypothesis.
From the above results in table the p-values for first three model is greater than 0.05 so first three model is insignificant.
The p-value of model variable ABCDE is 0.0356 < 0.05
so we reject the null hypothesis.
so model ABCDE is significant
and in model ABCDE model measure the interaction effects.
so, there is sufficient evidence of curvature relating income to agreement score.
