attomey whose client, a New Hampshire trout fishery, is seeking restitution from a power 5. You are an plant consortium located in longer support fish.Your dlient is convinced that acld rain deposition from these power plants created this condition. the describe an argument that you could use on behalf of your client: (5 pts) Acid Deposition in North America, 1994 and 2011 /20Explanation / Answer
A) It is no longer a hypothesis that acid rain not only takes place but, also have a serious environmental impact. Standing in 21st century, one of the main cause of acid rains is the industrial pollution, on this context the maps show a increased level of SOx in and around Pennsylvania extending upto New Orleans in south and to New Hampshire in east.
The power plant consortium is located in southwestern pennsylvania, which releases huge amount of sulphur and hydrogen sulphide gas which is clearly indicated by the map, the gases interacting with the atmospheric moisture forms acid which comes down on earth surface as acid rain. This acid rain when continued for a long period of time has a catastrophic impact on the environment, and on the same note the same acid raid has destroyed the lake of my client. The lake was a place bloomimg with trouts of different varieties, however, ever since the play of acid rain started the lake ecosystem began to accumulate the acid and has grown tremendously acidic for the survival of the fishes and as expected the lake is now a dead lake. This is a direct impact of the pollution of the nearby power plant and my client has lost a huge asset, saying this i would like to imply that neccessary steps should be taken by plant to check the emmision and also bring up solution for reviving the lake. Since my client used to extract a huge profit from the lake and seeing the lake is now dead compensation has to be provided by the power plant consortium.
B) A very reknowed example of a real life incident is the fate of adirondack lakes, US. The adirondack is a domal structure in northeastern New York, US which is blessed by a many lakes. Before the 1940s the lakes were filled with trouts of various breeds, however with the increased demand of timber, the trees were cut down for the paper mill. Pollution from paper mills and various other industries, opening the area to tourism lead to further damage of the area which directly affected the lakes and the fishes inhabiting those lakes. Acid rain deposition increased the acidity of the lakes which became intolerant for the fishes residing those lakes. Many lakes became dead and many were on the verge. The lakes were inhabited by some unique variety of trouts, however with the advent of pollution of various kind, acid rain being the most dominant, those trout varieties have moved out. This decrease in fish content of the lakes affected the fisheries.
