Question
1) List three ways that fossil fuels (coal, oil, nat. gas - be specificl) harm the ENVIRONMENT (three sentences) 2) then list three ways that fossil fuels harm SOCIETY (politics, money, war, health) - (three sentences) 3) Then refer to the maps depicting the spatial distribution of various energy sources and comment on the advantages of the ubiquity of solar and wind (compared to fossil fuels) and how this can help decrease international tension over energy while increasing energy self-sufficiency of each nation. (a few sentences)Explanation / Answer
1).
A- The by products released after the combustion of fuels generates SO2,NO2,CO,CO2 at huge volumes in the atmosphere which results in global warming
B- Release of SO2, CO2, CO causes formation of acid rain which is very dangerous
C- Extraction process of fossil fuels requires a large patch of land in which the forest is cleared for winning the fuel and this affects tha flora and fauna of the area
2).
1- Tremendous hike in the prices of the fuels sometimes leads to the falling of government and for exploiting the fossil fuel of developing country there is always rivalristic competition among the big powers
2- Some times it leads to war between the two nations over getting the rights or influence on the fuel generating country
3- In India and the China most of the deaths are occurring due to the airborne pollution diseases that pollution is created by over use of these fuels
3).
According to the map of distribution of the reserves of the natural gases and the fossil fuels it is very uneven and spatially distributed sometimes get accumulated to certain region such as Africa and some time there is nothing generally Europe so this type of uneven distribution leads to the difference in the societies belonging to these areas. Areas near the Middle East are very rich because of oil and countries in South America are relatively ooor , this energy gap can be removed easily if we focus on the solar and wind resources to cultivate energy as these resources are present at every where and at ample potential which are ecofriendly also
