..ooo Sprint 8:24 AM ole sandiego edu https://ole.sandieg I3;x-3-1,find du di du b. dt Free fall when an object i·dropped, the dstance t lalls in t seconds, assoming that air nesistance is negligible, is given by where s(0) is in feet Suppose that a medics refles hammer is dropped from a hovering helicopter Find (a) how far the hammer lalls in 3 sec, )how ast the hammer is traveling 3 sec afher bcing dropped and (c)Ihe hammer,'cceleration aher has been alling for 3 sec Given )-+-position of object at time r, where is in seconds and s in Find vir) and state units for same Find alt) and state units for same Find the velocity and acceleration when r-2 seconds

Explanation / Answer

4) a) When t=3, then s(3)=16*3^2=16*9=144 ft

That means the hammer falls 144 ft in 3 sec.

b) the velocity of the object is given as

s'(t)=32t

so, when t=3, we have,

s'(3)=32*3=96 ft/sec

That means the hammer is falling at an speed of 96 ft/s

c) To find the acceleration we need differentiate s'(t)=32t

On differentiation we get,

s"(t)=32

Since, it is constant. the acceleration of the hammer remains constant. so, the acceleration of the hammer after 3 sec is 32 ft/s^2
