Part one

a) The issue of climate change is widely known as a phenomenon which occurs primarily due to the presence of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. The scientific relation between atmospheric CO2 and temperature has been the basis for understanding the issue since the discovery made by Svante Arrhenius two centuries ago. Climate change is impacting ecosystems, cities, trade, polar ice sheets and the entire life on Earth as we know it. It is important to realize this as an ongoing slow-paced process that has been accelerated after the rapid development of humanity in the 1950s.  

b) Business plays a key role in addressing the issue of climate change by engaging international collaborations and taking action through investments in certain carbon-free technologies. Such an action is needed on local to global scales as the impacts of climate change are worldwide.

c) The key stakeholders in the issue of climate change are private companies, the public sector including federal agencies, and local communities at city or town-level. Of all the stakeholders, private companies play a major role through entrepreneurship and building strong partnerships between people from different countries. This is evident by a meeting organized by the United Nations in September 2015 when different countries majorly represented by businessmen agreed to work towards 17 Sustainable Development Goals. One of the goals is Climate Action for which key private partnerships have been made for implementing clean energy technologies,

d) The debate about the issue revolves around the skepticism based on the results of research that is carried out to study the science behind climate change. Debates move further against the motion when some national-level governments do not readily agree to the facts or the fact-based evidence of the human-induced impacts which becomes a challenge for the long-term sustenance of life. Lobbying by industrialists controls such governments for the sake of short-term gains and popularizing the idea of employment among common social groups without thinking of the long-term impacts.  

e) Business promotes partnerships between stakeholders and has dedication towards making intended contributions such as investing in clean energy technologies, preservation of natural ecosystems. Such actions drive common stakeholders in cities, towns, and villages to actively participate in activities that are mutually beneficial.

f) Governments and NGOs provide support in a variety of ways in that research funds and the establishment of nation-wide awareness programmes which are most useful and encouraging for the younger generation.

g) The issue of climate change is massively impacting the state of humanity at an unprecedented rate. The future generations will be at great risk if the business-as-usual scenarios continue to exist. For effectively combating the detrimental impacts of rising CO2 in the atmosphere, humans need to be aware of the fundamentals of the looming problem. It should be humans who need to be stand up against the human-made crises as no other species is capable of understanding the complexities of the earth system. The youth needs to be well educated so that their future remains stable on all scales of life. Business needs to move actively in the direction of sustainability as a lot depends on how much is being invested in appropriate sustainable technological growth. Governments and universities need constant engagement with each other for research and development in order to bring innovations for building a better future. Consumers must rely on e-commerce and carbon-free technologies in day-to-day activities. NGOs must substantially engage in campaigns focusing on holistic approaches towards protecting the natural environment. Investors must build key partnerships across national boundaries to sustain the growth of economies.

h) Economically powerful lobbyists such as oil giants are a hindrance to the growth that is desired for maintaining a safe climate in the future. Unsustainable activities in forests such as wood extraction lead to massive amounts of deforestation. Such obstacles can be overcome if the national governments in developed nations aim at bringing laws to tax the non-renewable resources such as coal, oil, gas at the mining level and limit their usage to a great extent. Payment through ecosystem services must be legalized by governments to ensure the restoration of carbon by safeguarding forests. A majority of public funds in developed as well as developing nations must be spent on decarbonization of their respective economies by encouraging investments in solar, wind, geothermal energy sources.
