1- Both the images are of coast lines with mud flats/tidal flats in both the images might have formed due to tidal action .

2-there is water on the mud flats due to 2 high tides in a day hence cause water lodge in the area .

3-the channel in the first image might have been formed due to the incission of small gullies causing a channel across the flat .

4-During high tides the water must have reached the foothill of the mountain hence the waves might reach the foot during the high tides .
