1) As it is already mentioned in the problem that there it is stated two methods to determine the composition of rock and minerals. the first one is percentage based on the visual estimation and the other is percentage based on the point counting. if we understand the difference between these two prescribed methods here then it will become very mucg easy for us to select the most appropriate one. so lets start.

According to determine the percentage of compostions on the visual eastimations than we will get only the things which we are noticing on the minerals. but it is very much possible that we will unable to get the actual data and property of the minerals by just watching it.

On the other hand if we determine the compositions in the basis of point count than we will get more datas regarding this. in point count we will already know that what we are looking for so that we can list them in a point.

So 2 Method is appropriate that is Percentage Based On Point Counting.

2) It may be benefitial to use all the methods to determine the composition but there is one disadvantage of this that is it will be a time consuming task. on the other hand this will give you some results and you may take the average of all the result to create your listing of compositions.

But on the other hand if you use only one best method to determine these all then it will be more beneficial becasue it will save your time efforts and give you the best result. now hope you understand that use only one best method to get your results in this.
