homework5.4: Problem 7 Previous Problem Problem ListNext Problem instruct.math.lsa.umich.edu (1 point) Use the figure below, which shows the graph of y -f(x), to answer the following questions. 110 (Click on the graph to get a larger version.) A. Estimate the integral: f(x)d0.9416666 (You will certainly want to use an enlarged version of the graph to obtain your estimate.) B. Which of the following average values of f is larger? . A. Between x = 0 and x = 3 -4 B. Betweenx3 and x3 Note: You can earn partial credit on this problemExplanation / Answer
Left end sum :
We will consider x = -3 , -2 , -1 , 0 , 1 and 2
Add f(x) values :
-0.8 - 1.1 + 0 +1.5 + 2.6 + 2.4
to get 4.6
And to this multiply deltax which is 1
4.6 * 1 = 4.6
Right end sum :
We will consider x = -2 , -1 , 0 , 1 and 2 and 3
Add f(x) values :
- 1.1 + 0 +1.5 + 2.6 + 2.4 + 0
to get 5.4
And to this multiply deltax which is 1
5.4 * 1 = 5.4
So left end sum = 4.6
Right end sum = 5.4
So, averaging these :
(4.6 + 5.4)/2

B)
Definitely 0 to 3
because between 0 and 3 all are positive values
