For each value of the seven values of r, approximate the slope of the tangent at r by calculating slope with three nearby values of z and taking their average. For example, for 2009, 1. Use the slope formula to find the slope between (1,7.5) and (2,5.8), (1,7.5) and (3,4.7) and finally (1,7.5) and (4,3.6). Take the average of the three slopes. Call this average si. Similarly calculate s2, s3, ST. 2. For each of the seven values of r, approximate the rate of change of the slope of the tangents by calculating slope with three nearby values of slopes calculated in (a) and and taking their average.
