We know that the second derivative of a function tells whether the slope of the function i.e., the first derivative is increasing or decreasing.Second derivative tells whether the curve is concave upward or concave downward at a given point.
If f''(x) > 0 then the curve is concave up
f''(x) < 0 then the curve is concave down
f''(x) = 0 then we can't tell about the curve at that point.
From the graph at point 'a' the curve is concave down. So second derivative is negative.
at point 'c' the curve is concave up. So the second derivative is positive.
at pont 'b' the curve is transforming from concave down to concave up so the second derivative is zero.
