a. i) rule of v states that a vertical bed never forms a V and it goes straight across the topography. Hence the answer would be ' cut straight across a valley'.

ii)  rule of v states that a horizontal bed will parallel topographic contours on a map. Hence the answer should be upwards and parallel contour lines

iii) A dipping bed makes a V in the direction of the dip. Hence upstream and cross contour lines.

iv)A dipping bed makes a V in the direction of the dip. Hence downstream.
