Answer 2: Mainly three things govern the formation of deserts. They are the presence of high pressure, creating cloud-free conditions,cold ocean currents and mountain ranges to create rain shadows. Both the deserts resulted as Africa's aridity was triggered,creating the deserts.The region underwent aridification with the shrinkage of the Tethys,which was a giant ocean and was the origin of the modern Mediterranean, Black and Caspian Seas,during the Tortonian stage.The Tortonian stage thus marks the time when North Africa shifted from a permanently lush, vegetated landscape to a landscape experiencing arid and humid cycles on orbital time scales.
Answer 3:Sahara desert is differnt from kalahari because Sahara is the world's third largest low latitude hot desrt. It mainly has rocky hamada, ergs and some of the largest sand dunes of the world carving its surface.On the other hand, the Kalahari Desert is a featureless, gently undulating, sand-covered plain. It is more appropriately semi-arid sandy savanna or a semi desert supporting more animals and plants than what a normal desert does. It receives nearly double the rainfall than the Sahara desert, yet portions of the Kalahari still meet the definition of a desert in terms of rainfall. This difference is mainly due to their location of latitude and longitudes.
Answer 4: Another desert similar to Sahara desert is The Thar Desert which is also known as the Great Indian Desert and lies in the northwestern part of India predominantly in the state of Rajasthan.
