Radio telescopes are designed for detecting radio-frequency radiation(wavelengths of about 10 metres (30 megahertz [MHz]) and 1 mm (300 gigahertz [GHz])) emitted by extraterrestrial sources, such as stars and galaxies. These originally have low resolution ad many design and technical considerations are put to get them a similar resolutions as optical telescopes.

As mentioned above, radio waves are very long as compared to visible light and also cosmic radio sources are extremely weak. To accomodate this wavelength and get a good resolution, radio telescopes are the largest telescopes in the world with the most sensitive radio receivers are used inside them.

Since, radio telescopes abosrb higher wavelength, it is characterised by lower energy than the optical waves. A smaller size won't get a good resolution so a larger size is necessary for getting a similar resolution like optical telescopes.

Since, The radio waves have very large wavelengths, they ignore the obstacles because they're too thin as compared to their size. Radio signals pass straight through the clouds and can be detected by the large antennas used in them.

Radio waves help in observing those objects which cannot be observed through visible light, such as cloud of gases. It is not just another way of looking at the sky but looking at a broader spectrum which can even pass through all the obstacles and getting a detailed view of the universe. Every part of spctrum comes with its own advantage of studying a certain kind of object, hence radio waves have diffeent advantages than visible light.
