Question 1: Due to following reasons given materials are not considered minerals:
a) Ivory : Becasue Ivory is a organic substance found in the teeth of animals whereas a mineral must be by defination inorganic.
b) coral: Coral are animals which secrete a particular chemical calcium carbonate and can be classified as animals hence they can not be considered as minerals.
c) Oil: It is a mixture of different organic comppunds and it can not be said to have particular crystal structure. In addition to this oil is liquid and not solid. Due to these two reasons it can not be considered as minerals.
d) Glass: Even though glasss is solid and is made up of inorganic compound silica it can not be considered as mineral becasue it doesn't have ordered arrangement of molecules inside it.
