1)c) For a named country you have studied, explain why rapid natural population growth is taking place. Niger, Africa Located in West Africa, Nigeria has almost 80% of its land covered by the Sahara Desert. The rapid population growth happening today is due to high birth rates, as the average births per woman is 7.1, and low death rates because the people are receiving cleaner water, better diets, vaccines and medical care. On top of that, birth control is only practiced by 5% of the Nigeriens. Children are also a source of income to families as more children means more labour, resulting in more income, being that the nearly 90% of the population earn their income through agriculture and livestock means. And because of such high birth rates, it is estimated that almost 50% of the Nigerien population are under the age of 16.

Explanation / Answer

You can add something like:

The illiteracy makes them believe that more number of Children means more source of income but they don’t think that this will hamper their right to education as they are inhaled in some income building activity.

Because of illiteracy only they are not seeing the problem of providing basic necessities to each and every children and hence the cases are malnutrition are very high in African countries like Nigeria.

Young people below the age of 16 are only resourceful when they are skilled and educated.
