A. ground up wood

Explanation / Answer

Q) Gouge is a material that may be found right along the boundary between two plates. What best describes gouge?

Ans. C. ground up material

Fault gouge is a very fine grained non cohesive and less cemented rock formed by the tectonic forces.

Fault gouge which is generated within the fault-zone sometimes mixes with slab derived fluids to produce a gravitationally unstable slurry of fluid laden mud and rock. This is associated with fault gouge. But when the question is about what best describes gouge, it is not describes fault gouge.

So, the correct answer is option "C".
