Topic: Harmful effects of clear cutting in regards to erosion.

Deforestation or cutting of trees on a large scale have numerous harmful results. Some of them are reduction in the availability of oxygen in the area, loss of habitat of wildlife, disturbance to the ecological balance, less rainfall, etc.

In regards to erosion, deforestation has a very negative impact. The roots of the trees in jungle keep the soil bonded to the ground and even makes it more productive. The organic matter present at the roots of soil increases the fertility of the soil. Also trees attract rainfall which in turn enriches the soil.

Now due to deforestation, the soil isn't bound to anything and can be easily eroded by heavy rainfall, winds or animals. The lack of organic matter of trees decreases its productivity and fertility.
