The population of the world, P (in billions), is modeled by the function P = 7.1(1.0014) t, where f represents the number of years after the beginning of 2012. What will the population be at the beginning of 2030? Find the rate at which the population is increasing at the beginning of 2030 in people per year? In what year will the population of the world be growing at a rate of 25 million people per year?

Explanation / Answer

put t=2030-2012=18

we get population=7.281 billion

b)dP/dt=7.1*ln(1.0014)*1.0014^t

so at t=18,

rate of increment=0.010186 billions/year

c)7.1*ln(1.0014)*1.0014^t=25

t=5597.3

so at year 7609.3
