Question
Full Question: Estimate the area under a single loop of the sine curve sin(2 x) by erecting on the region 5 inscribed rectangles of equal width.
Where I'm stuck: I thought that you just recognize the period and then since it's only one loop you know that the area you are looking at is from [0, pi/2], then you divide pi/2 into 5 for the 5 equal bases of the rectangles and then plug those values into 1/10*[f(pi/10)+f(pi/5)+f(3pi/10)+f(2pi/5)+ pi/2], where f(x)=sin(2x).
Can you please tell me what I am doing wrong?
Explanation / Answer
Try to understand why u are multiplying with (1/10),,,,on x axis u have x as a variable which is 0-Pi/2,which is divided into 5 parts,,so u have to use PI/10 not 1/10.....so u missed a factor of PI.MUltiply with Pi and check ur answer
