Question
Moon Activity
THESE ARE THE VALUES I GOT FROM THE EXCERCISE BEFORE THIS ONE some valeus might be needed to calculate the above:
the Crater(TERMINATOR) name seems to be in Sinus meddi/ Sinus aestuum sector and the crater name is Crater Manilus. Crater is nearly circular in shape or appearence. This crater lies in the equator of the moon. at 0 latitude and 0 longtitude.
i have made this picture on paper. It take 8cm of my paper to complete.
radius of moon is = 1734km
now the scale factor= 1734km/4cm= 433.5 Km/cm
distance from the tereminator to the top of the feature is D= 2.5km shadow height s = 0.5km
now real distance D = f*d = 433.5* 2.5 = 1083.75km
shadow length S = f* s = 433.5*0.5 = 216.75 km
SO the true height of mountain H = S*D/R = 216.75 *1083.75/1734 = 135.46 km
Explanation / Answer
Let suppose the length of the object L=1.3cm
Now we need to calculate the height of the object
height of the object=L*L/R
R= radius of the object=2.3cm
Now height of the object=1.3*1.3/2.3
=0.7cm
