What is the average increase in spending per year from the year 2000 to to the year 2002? (142-113)/2

What is the average increase in spending per year from the year 2004 to the year 2006? (238-183)/2

What is the average increase in spending per year from the year 2000 to to the year 2006?

Estimate the instantaneous increase in spending in the year 2004 by taking the average of two average rates of change.

Explanation / Answer

From 2000 to 2006

it should be = (238 - 113)/6 = 20.83

from 2002 to 2004

it should be = (183 - 142)/2 = 20.5

So instatntaneous rate of change = (20.83 + 20.5)/2 = 20.67
