Question

1)A CAR TIRE RADIUS OF 42.5 cm. It is rotating at 3500 rotations/minute.

a)Express the rotations/minute as radians/seconds,

b)Calculate how far the tire has traveled in 10 minutes (round your answer to two decimal places)

2)Factor ands solve the following quadratic trigonometric equation for the domain 0_<x_<2pi.Soltuions should be rounded to two decimal places. 2sin^2x+sinx=0.

3)Prove the following trigonometric identity: tan theta-1=sin^2theta-cos^2theta/sinthetacostheta+cos^2theta

4)Write the equation of a curve in the form y=a sin k(x+c)+d that has the following characteristics:

a)an amplitude of 5

b)a period of 720 degrees

c)a phase shift of 45 degrees to the right and range -3_<y_<7.

5)The height of the pedal of a bicycle varies as the bike moves. The height in cm of the pedal above the ground over time, h, is descrobed by the equation h=15 sin(4pi)t+23. Time has been measured in seconds.

a)What is the pedal's maximum height above the gorund?

b)How long does it take for the pedal to complete one revolution?

c)When is the pedal at a height of 8cm?

6a)The population of an information technology village is increasing by 8% per year. In 2004, there were 4500 people living in the village.Estimate the population in 2010.

6b)The half-life of radium is 1620 years.

i)If a laboratory initially has 5 g of radium, determine how much they would have in 200 years.

b)How many years would it take until the laboratory had only 4 g of radium?

Explanation / Answer

A) 1 rotation is 2*pie radians thus 3500*pie/60 would give you answer in radians/seconds which is approximately = 183

b) in one rotation car will travel 2*pie*42.5 cm

and in 1 min it will travel 3500*2*pie*42.5 cm

in 10 min it will travel 10*3500*2*pie*42.5 cm

I think the points alloted to this lenghty question is very less if you can increase the points alloted I can mail you other answers as well
