(a) in the previous step u have the equation as 2x=4*(lambda)*x^3 and same for y . x=0 is an ovious solution for it , isn't it? that's why the steps.similarly for y

(b) i believe this aprt is clear from the explanatio of part a , bacuse u have to plug in all solutions to get all the critical points.
