Question
By now the importance of enzymes should be obvious, but looking at issues of why they are so important, what goes wrong with them, how they are regulated, how they are produced, how they are controlled, how they are involved in pathways, why they are important in some medical conditions, and so on will help provide you with a much better understanding of these protein catalysts that are necessary for life to function. These postings should be very educational as well as emphasize how dependent we are on enzymes. I need outside resoures with in paragraph citation and a works cited citation. do not use other solutions or plagiarize please..thank you
Explanation / Answer
In the article Enzyme: How they work and what they do by Tim Newman: The enzymes bind to a substrate and helps to synthesize the required product. The enzymes are regulated by cofactors, coenzymes to perform certain functions and they are inhibited ti slow down their process when it is not neccesary by competitive, noncompetitive and irreversible inhibitors. The enzymes are usually controlled by temperature and pH. They can function well only at pH 7.0 and temperature 37°C. In conditions where pH or temperature is too high or too low they cannot function efficiently.
In the article of importance of enzymes for health, longevity and chronic disease prevention by Dr. Mercola explains about the production of enzymes. The enzymes are produced by the cells in the body and these can be acquired by taking raw foods and other materials which produce certain enzymes. Enzymes in the catabolic pathways help to break large molecules such as proteins, fats etc into smaller molecules. And this results in result of energy which is a process called glycolysis. And they help in certain medical conditions such as to fight cancer and to treat leukemia. Some enzymes have antibiotic properties and has anti-inflammatory activities.
This shows that a human body cannot function without the enzymes. The involvement of the enzymes is present in every action that happens in the body. Hence they are so important for life to function. All the organisms are dependent on the enzymes. Deficiency or improper functioning of enzymes causes severe diseases.
