Rheumatoid Arthritis is an autoimmune disorder b. Rheumatoid Arthritis is characterized by chronic inflammation c. Rheumatoid Arthritis is characterized by stiff and painful joints d. Rheumatoid Arthritis affects more men than womenExplanation / Answer
Answer-1: Correct answer is option (d)
Explaination- When we involve ourselves in aerobic exercises, we are causing our muscles to work more and for that they need nourishment. While doing the rhythmic aerobic exercise, we tend to breathe faster to so that our muscles could get enough oxygen supply. Therefore, in rder to meet the increasing oxygen demans, our heart pumps more blood. More pumping action of blood causes the increase in the blood pressure.
Whereas, in case of breathe holding exercise, there is minimal or no gaseous exchange among oxygen and carbon dioxide. So, as a result, pCO2 inside the body increases and causes the slight elevation of blood pressure (exact mechanism for this is still unknown but it is postulated that the BP during breathe holding exercise increase due to increase in the working of sympathetic nervous system!)
Answer-2: Correct answer is option (a)
Explaination- In Parkinson's disease, there occurs the degeneration of neurons. Along with this, it affects those neurons which produces dopamine which is a neuro-transmitter. It mainly affect the substantia nigra region. So, These days, Levodopa drug is given which gets absorbed in blood and travels to brain by crossing the blood-brain barrier. This drug works as a precursor of dopamine. Thus, it is a wonderful drug which overcome the loss of dopamine in this disease.
Answer-3: Correct answer is option (c)
Explaination- When a person has Hiatal hernia, diaphragm causes the backflow of acidic food or chyme into the esophagus which can lead to uncomfortable condition of heartburns. When a person has low BMI, this means that he/she has lean body mass or very thin but obesity is a risk factor that contributes for GERD. Low calcium levels too does not contribute for the acidic reflux.
Answer-4: Correct answer is option (d)
Explaination- Options-a, b & c are correct. Rheumatoid arthritis affects MORE WOMEN THAN MEN. This is explained on the basis of activity of hormone estrogen. The levels of estrogen in women declines drastically after menopause. Estrogen is important for the maintainance of bones as it helps in the proper activity of osteoblast cells and increased mineralization of bones. Howeer, when its level declines, it causes the increased activity of osteoclast cells that makes the bones weak. Therefore, women are more affected to this condition than men.
