Thanls for taking the timeto go over this with me, and let meknow when I can return the favor.

Explanation / Answer

a) The Dupont equation breaks down our return on equity (ROE) into three component ratios : the Net profit margin , the asset turnover and the Equity multiplier

And, according to my understanding of the Du Pont equation and its calculation of ROE, the three ratios provide insights into the company’s profitability, effectiveness in using the company’s assets and financial leverage.

b)

c) Calculation with formula given below

d) Answer a and c is correct.

a)Increase the firm’s bottom line profitability for the same volume of sales, which will increase the company’s net profit margin
c)Reduce the company’s operating expenses , its cost of goods sold and/or the interest rate on its borrowed funds because this will increase the company’s net profit margin

By decreasing the amount of debt financing used by the company, it will lower the equity multiplier but will not have any effect on the company’s asset turnover ratio. Hence, the statement is incorrect.

Using more equity financing in the capital structure would decrease the equity multiplier. Since,a high equity multiplier would mean that the company is highly leveraged which is not a good indicator. Thus, the statement is contradicting as using more equity financing would decrease the equity multiplier.
